Idea

Well this weekend allowed me the opportunity to bounce my research idea off of a former asst. superintendent. He was thrilled with my idea and gave me some great ideas on ways to find the existing research on the ways positive communication will affect parental communication as well as the climate in the classroom. I am truly hoping that I will be able to find what I need!

Kari,
You might want to think about how you define parental communication and why you want to improve it (other than the obvious, because you're supposed to!). Does it mean more phone calls home? Could letters count? Emails? Newsletters? What else? And, what are the consequences you hope to see? Do want parents to respond with more communication back to you? Do you want a change in students?

I guess what I'm suggesting is that before you can figure out how you would measure this, you first need to pick it apart and figure out what exactly "THIS" is. You can do it, and I think this has great potential, and there are no right or wrong answers, just the answers that YOU want to give--the questions that you really want to have answered.

Great ideas to bounce off of your research group...
